Epic Fail

Greetings good citizen,

The title of today’s offering is self-explanitory, and yes, most of the time I don’t even bother with the title until after the post is written. We’ll have to see if knowing the topic I wish to address up front improves matters any.

Ironic how the world’s stock markets seem to be ‘sympathizing’:

Wall Street Slides on Jobs Report
By CHRISTINE HAUSER 1 minute ago

Stocks fell more than 1 percent as investors expressed disappointment with Friday’s report on the American labor market.

Um, if you care to check you would observe that ALL (open exchanges. Weirdly, Europe is closed today) are bleeding from the eye-sockets.

The DOW has dipped below the 13,000 point range (which isn’t nearly as disconcerting as it being above the 13,000 point level is…there is NO RATIONAL REASON FOR IT!)

And speaking of ‘mis-information and propaganda’ we have this news item from Alternet:

In June of last year, Jon Stewart went on air with Fox News’ Chris Wallace and started a major media controversy over the channel’s misinforming of its viewers. “Who are the most consistently misinformed media viewers?” Stewart asked Wallace. “The most consistently misinformed? Fox, Fox viewers, consistently, every poll.”

Stewart’s statement was factually accurate, as we’ll see. The next day, however, the fact-checking site PolitiFact weighed in and rated it “false.” In claiming to check Stewart’s “facts,” PolitiFact ironically committed a serious error—and later, doubly ironically, failed to correct it. How’s that for the power of fact checking?

There probably is a small group of media consumers out there somewhere in the world who are more misinformed, overall, than Fox News viewers. But if you only consider mainstream U.S. television news outlets with major audiences (e.g., numbering in the millions), it really is true that Fox viewers are the most misled based on all the available evidence—especially in areas of political controversy. This will come as little surprise to liberals, perhaps, but the evidence for it—evidence in Stewart’s favor—is pretty overwhelming.

Sadly, a majority of the human race are born ‘Judgers’, it’s part of their DNA. They’d rather kill you than change their mind once it is made up.

You’d think, being judgers, that this ‘personality type’ would carefully weigh ALL of the evidence before forming an opinion but no, they are judgers in the worst possible way, they ‘rush to judgement’ on the barest amount of evidence, like learning the person’s gender. Judgers don’t let ‘facts’ get in the way of their pre-conceived notions! Your sex, the time of day the incident allegedly took place and half of the time, where it happened is all these people need to, er, ‘hear’ in order to make up their minds.

And this is the kind of dynamite Fox News has been playing with for the past twenty years.

Worse, this is why when a Fox News viewer relates ‘their version’ of the story, it has no relationship to the actual events because their ‘prejudices’ filled in most of the blanks without their ever being told those details!

Again their ‘focus’ has been on feeding the ego’s of the nation’s rigid thinkers (actually these people don’t think at all if they can help it, the effort hurts their teeny head and spoils their (already foul) mood.

Worse, these people are only ever ‘happy’ when they’re screaming for someone else’s blood!

I’d like to say you probably work with someone like that but it is far more likely that you work FOR someone like that. (Most of these people are SO abrasive that they CAN’T work /take orders FROM anybody so they are self-employed and have an extraordinarily long list of ‘former employees’.

Which brings us to today’s main topic, that of our ‘failed’ social model.

Worse, good citizen, our failed social model WILL INEVITABILY result in the failure of our civilization. Half of it is already ‘on the rocks’ with the rest leaning precariously over the edge of the proverbial cliff.

Dare I point out that our financial system ‘died’ four years ago and the only thing keeping commerce, er, ‘alive’ is privatized gains and socialized losses.

Scarier good citizen is the people who ‘own’ commerce DON’T NEED your business, they’re ALREADY fabulously wealthy, they have more money than they can spend.

So FUCK YOU!

Is it our quasi-suicidal willingness to allow the anti-social to (micro) manage our affairs that spells our doom or is it our collective unwillingness to boot these unqualified jack-asses out of their seats of power that dooms future generations?

A Simple Plan holds the solution to this problem that has vexed humanity since the dawn of man.

And, amazingly enough, it’s called TESTING!

Now it’s my turn to ‘feed’ the little monster inside all of us!

How many of you suspect that the individual you currently report to would be unable to pass the test to qualify for the position they currently hold?

If you can’t PROVE you’re ‘qualified’ to handle the job then you don’t get the sumbitch!

It’s sad to admit that there will be a ‘learning curve’ to deal with in the beginning and we are going to have to deal with a few decades of ‘less than perfect’ management BUT it will be a head and shoulders improvement over what we currently suffer!

The ‘miserably incompetent’ (read most) modern management usually only succeed in making their underlings lives miserable (blessedly, not nearly as miserable as he’d LIKE TO make them.)

How sad is it good citizen that his ultimate goal is to make YOU MORE MISERABLE than he is?

This brings us full circle to the ‘purpose of civilization’ Did we establish civilization because it increased the likelihood of survival or did we establish civilization to make shopping for shit easier?

If you picked the latter you don’t stand much of a chance of advancing under A Simple Plan…

Thanks for letting me inside your head,

Gegner
