Up again, down again...

Greetings good citizen,

Oil dropped below $100 a barrel (again) today after bouncing back to nearly $105 a barrel. Some pundits are predicting $3.50 a gallon gasoline this summer but with more and more evidence that Peak Oil occurred ‘on schedule’ roughly five years ago is that really going to be the case?

It’s all tied together good citizen and you can’t ‘isolate’ the bad parts from the salvageable ones. Worse, when energy goes bad, it ALL goes bad.

Oil wasn’t the only thing to ‘take a dive’ on Wall Street today, stock markets around the globe bled from the eyesockets today. Not all markets finished in negative territory but the ones that didn’t we’re up much.

As I have pointed out in the past, the, er, ‘global economy’ is suffering from more than just an energy crisis.

There are (in case you haven’t noticed) serious problems with money but especially interest payments.

Under the ‘tied together’ theme, the, er, dearth of ‘investment opportunities’ is the direct offshoot the too much money with noplace to go phenomenon, and truly ironic is how both factors feed the excess capacity problem (by driving too many potential customers out of the job market!)

Did I mention ‘mismanagement’?

Which is to point out that these idiots couldn’t have done a better job of destroying the economy if they had been trying to! (And the evidence actually favors this conclusion!)

Naturally, good citizen, none of this is news.

One of the most ‘frequently repeated' memes of the day was how the unemployment situation is considerably worse than the official data and media ‘happy talk’ would have you believe.

But you knew that through your own experiences and observations.

You even sort of understand why they are being less than forthright.

The (few) people ‘the system’ works for, it works VERY WELL for them.

And, considering some of the other shenanigans these people have pulled, there is that whole ‘evading prosecution’ thing motivating them (big time!)

As I have pointed out repeatedly, not only have they committed crimes, they have even gone as far as to have committed ‘capital crimes’, the kind of things most civilizations hang the offender for…although there was that one time thing with the guillotine…

So we can see why these people would be reluctant to step down from their powerful perches without insuring some kind of amnesty first.

If we offered them unconditional amnesty they’d probably ‘vacate’ on their own the day after tomorrow.

Although I doubt that would be a ‘win’ because the plan has been and probably still is to scram as soon as ‘tomorrow’ gets here.

Naturally, we are confronted here with the ‘tomorrow never comes’ problem.

Worse, it is very difficult to work up a sense of urgency because nothing has been done about any of these issues for a very long time.

Although I suspect ‘peak oil’ will bring pressure to bear that no one will be able to ignore…and sooner rather than later.

It’s going to be a very interesting summer good citizen, very interesting indeed.

Thanks for letting me inside your head,

Gegner
